October Loves

It's not exactly feeling like the middle of October here in Edmonton at the moment. We got a big dump of snow this weekend, so it feels more like Christmas than post-Thanksgiving. Hopefully, we'll have a few warm days to melt the snow and give me a little time to do all that Fall backyard clean-up that hasn't been done yet. I still have potatoes in the ground!

Such is life in Alberta I guess, according to the Farmer's Almanac we're in for a severe winter, and they're (whoever they are) not wrong so far. Anyways, it's also that time of the month where I round up a few things I'm fangirling over right now.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
I just started reading this book last week but am just about finished and have really enjoyed it so far. It's a historical fiction novel about two very different sisters struggling to survive in France during WWII. If you are a fan of historical fiction, you should definitely pick this one up.

Scarf Season
I practically live in scarves when the weather cools down. They are the perfect accessory to keep you warm and add a little something to your outfit. This chunky knit scarf will keep you warm on the coldest winter days, and the neutral grey colour goes with everything.

E.L.F. Make-Up Brushes
I really needed some new makeup brushes and had heard such great things about E.L.F. brushes that I decided to go for it. I've had good luck with their products in the past, and this full set was only $30...that's cheaper than some individual brushes at other places (I'm looking at you Sephora). The verdict? The brushes really are great! They are nice and soft, have hardly shed any bristles and blend everything nicely.

Flannel Shirts
Not only is it now scarf season it's also flannel season. Anytime I'm not at work you'll most likely find me wearing some combination of flannel shirt and jeans. I picked up a few from Old Navy last year and this boyfriend style is still my favourite. It has lasted through many washes, and I really like the longer, butt covering length in the back. Cute and cozy, basically my winter motto.

Druzy Earrings
I picked up a pair of druzy earrings at the Etsy Made in Canada Market last month and have been wearing them a ton. The ones I bought aren't available online, but these ones are similar. I think they look beautiful (and sparkly) but are also a good price. They would make a perfect stocking stuffer or as a little treat for yourself.

Dark Red Nail Polish
This Essie polish in Bordeaux has been my go to lately. It's the perfect Fall colour (dark but not too dark), and Essie polish never lets me down. Two coats of this and a coat of their 'Good to Go' top coat and you've got a long-lasting manicure.

Pumpkin Chai Tea
I've said before that I don't like Pumpkin Spice Latte's but give me this Pumpkin Chai tea from David's any day. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I walk into David's and always like to test out their new flavours, but this is one variety that always finds a way into my tea cabinet every year about this time.

Dog Dog Goose Collars
These collars were another find from the Etsy market, but I haven't bit the bullet and bought any yet. We've got two big dogs which means two large collars and they are not exactly cheap. Since I'm in saving mode for our Barcelona trip, I've put this purchase on hold, but it will be happening at some point. The collars are so pretty and fantastic quality, you'll never have to buy another collar again. If you've got a pup loving person on your Christmas list, I think one of these collars would be a good bet.
